A Digipak is a form of jewel case, for holding one or more CDs or DVDs. It is mainly a card package, although it does incorporate a plastic CD tray. The most common digipak has 4 panels with the CD tray attached to the inside right panel. Standard digipaks can be supplied with 4, 6 or 8 panels, making it possible to hold up to 4 CDs plus booklets.Variations include where the discs sit on a hub or spindle inside. Among commercial audio CD releases, Digipak-style cases are one of the few common alternatives to the somewhat brittle jewel case. Digipak-style cases grew in popularity among record labels and recording artists in the early 2000s.
